Why did I start Road Tripper Yoga???

 

Why did I start taking Yoga classes you want to know? The answer is my right hip was hurting so much that the quality and joy in my life were being altered by this nagging pain. I did the normal average route to get answers, this did not work for me. I wanted to find an alternative. I have used Yoga, acupuncture and massage therapy (he introduced me to my fascia) to get me back on my feet with happiness! When I first started taking Yoga it was all about flexibility, strength and stamina. To my wondering eyes what appeared was my heart and soul were happier! Really? Yes, really! The mindfulness and breath work you do during a yoga practice settles your mind, body and spirit. That is why I am becoming a teacher and why I have started Road Tripper Yoga with Mindy Searcey. Mindy always inspires me to know myself a little bit better. I want to share my passion for Yoga to get people moving their bodies, even if you can’t touch your toes! 

 We don’t use our body to get into a pose, we use the pose to get into our body. Yoga and life are all about your breath on the mat and off. Think about it, haven’t you heard this statement to settle yourself? “Take a deep breath and everything will be ok” this is so true!  I agree with Mindy, “you can’t control people, places or things.” - move on with what you can, create a life you want that makes you joyous. As one that is older and wiser. 😊 I know I need to create this for myself not depend on family and friends to create this for me. I am the lone warrior to make it happen!  I have been static for the last couple of years trying to find my “passion.” What is that anyway? My children have discussed this with me on many occasions, giving me books and journals to try and find myself. They have, why can’t I? I gave all my passion to my work as many of you have - time, energy, creativity, brain power, heart and soul - this is not happening any longer because I have retired. I wish for you to figure this out sooner than I did before you retire, to have a work life balance. I go to a fantastic massage therapist, he figured this out at 25. I am just getting it at 63! What!! Please don’t think I have had a sad life because I haven’t, I have had a super job, wonderful supportive kids and husband! Now, they are my biggest cheerleaders for this new chapter in my life!! I am so excited to get started with Road Tripper Yoga. I will be on this journey with a fantastic team – Mindy, Grant and my husband Gary, you will hear about Gary often! Funny man, he is also our driver, photographer and anything that needs to be fixed he can do it! Handy person to have around, he is also my best friend. Let’s get our bodies moving again with Yoga! If you see us on the road traveling in our Airstream, please ask me about some postures you can do while you are on the move!

Let me introduce myself...

My name is Mindy and I have a passion for Yoga. Not just the physical stuff but ALL of it. I have used Yoga in my life to get thru divorce, anxiety, depression, grief, and so much more. Thru the practice of Yoga my life has changed. I started my journey early at the age of 19 and that is when I met Martha. She and I have lots in common despite age differences, upbringing and all those other societal norms. One of the things we have in common besides Yoga is we love to travel, we love good food and wine and we love to laugh.

Martha and her husband, Gary have been friends for a long time and I am honored to consider them my family. When Martha started talking about Yoga on the road this idea came to me of creating a book for anyone and everyone that loves to travel but wants to stay limber in body and spirit. If you can remember that flexibility is a state of mind then I can promise you that you will benefit from the many things we are going to be offering here at Road Tripper Yoga. Besides, you know it’s going to be good because you got something founded on three people with a like mind working together to benefit humanity. Doesn’t that sound like something worth checking out?
